Stretched by 110 mm over the standard RX, which means a total capacity of 432-litres or 966-litres with the rear seats folded down, the RX L will go on sale Down Under in a choice of two trim levels, a V6 petrol engine or V6 hybrid and with drive going to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox or a CVT in the case of the latter.

In base Luxury guise, the RX L's list of standard equipment includes an eight-inch infotainment display, tri-zone climate control, 12-speaker sound system, 20-inch alloy wheels, heated and ventilated front seats with leather finish for the first two rows, electrically folding third row, 10 airbags and Lexus Safety Sense+ that adds Pre-Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Auto High Beam Assist, Parking Sensors and Tyre Pressure Monitor.

Available as an option, the $3 500 (R32 310) Enhancement Package adds a full-colour Heads-Up Display, sunroof and smart key card.

At the sharp end, the Sports Luxury comes fitted with the Enhancement Package as standard but brings with it a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, heated second-row seating, rear window blinds, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, around view monitor and adaptive variable suspension.

Power-wise, the RX L remain unchanged from the standard model with the 3.5-litre V6 in the 350 model developing 216 kW and 358 Nm of torque, while the same mill in the 450h adds a 123 kW electric motor for a total system output of 230 kW.

At present, Lexus South Africa is yet to announce if the RX L would become available this year.
