According to thedrive.com, an unnamed BMW spokesperson allegedly confirmed via a leaked email that the X7 would debut in “mid-October”, although final specification details and the actual design will be announced on the media day of the Paris Motor Show set to take place on the second and third of next month.
Until now only seen in a series of spy images, a teaser video and recently in leaked patent drawings, the seven-seat X7 will rival the likes of the Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GLS and ride on BMW’s CLAR platform, with motivation set to come from the same range of petrol and diesel engines as the X5 and even the M850i. A hybrid model is also likely to be added at a later stage.
Only expected to arrive in 2020, the X7 will allegedly also spawn an M model rumoured to be called the X7 M or M60i with a projected output of 441kW, meaning it will likely use the same 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the M5.
