Reportedly coming to market in 2019, the new Mokka X will move from the current Gamma II platform that can trace its roots back to 2000 with the launch of the Opel Corsa C, to PSA's EMP2 that will underpin the next generation Peugeot 2008. Production is expected to, however, continue at Opel's Eisenach plant in Germany.
Still heavily disguised, Britain's Auto Express claims that the Mokka X will feature exterior styling derived from the bigger Grandland X and possibly a similar interior, while the General Motors based engines will be dropped in favour of PSA engines possibly the 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre PureTech turbo-petrol engines, and the 1.6 BlueHDI turbodiesel.
More details are likely to emerge over the coming months.
