Published by Britain's Auto Express, the heavily disguised prototype retains the concept's sloping bonnet line and AMG-GT R grille, with the rear-end featuring an upwards motion and noticeable rear spoiler on the bootlid.
As indicated previously, the GT will not only serve as a replacement for the CLS and rival the Porsche Panamera, but also debut Mercedes' F1-dervied EQ Power+ hybrid powertrain setup, consisting of the standard AMG-GT's 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 supplemented by an electric motor.
While no production figures have yet been announced, the concept's setup allegedly produces in the region of 600 kW with both petrol and electric motors deployed, enough, AMG claims, to send it from 0-100 km/h "in less than three seconds". A development of the 4MATIC+ layout used in the AMG-E63 S will send the power to all four wheels, with a Torque Vectoring system likely to vary an even distribution between the front and rear axles.
Sales of the GT are slated to commence next year.
