Available for pre-order in Europe from this coming Thursday (February seventh), the RS receives the same revised front facia as its siblings, consisting of a gloss black take on the Singleframe grille, wider air intakes with a honeycomb grille, more aggressive LED headlights with Matrix units being optional, enlarged side vents, a titanium-look finish for the quattro logo, a new fixed rear spoiler, dual oval tipped exhausts, dynamic indicators and matte aluminium, gloss black, carbon or body coloured mirrors.
In addition, the RS gets gloss black detailing down the side, a body coloured front blade and eight colours including the Pulse Orange and Turbo Blue that debuted on the standard model, as well as the bespoke Kyalami Green. From the options list, buyers can specify that the aforementioned wing be pained gloss black and the blade in matte aluminium, with the latter finish being carried over to the Audi four rings and TT RS logo.
Said to have been inspired by the company’s motorsport exploits, the changes inside are minimal and still includes the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Display and MMI system with the MMI plus being optional, Dynamic Select system, a RS specific leather wrapped, flat bottom sports steering wheel, RS sports leather seats trimmed in Alcantara with an optional honeycomb design and in fine Nappa leather, as well as RS branding on the gear lever and door sills, and an optional 680-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system. A new addition is the RS Design Pack that adds red or blue accents to the air vents, RS branded floor mats, seatbelts and on the seats and centre console.
No changes have taken place underneath the bonnet though, where the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine again punches out 294kW/480Nm, fed to all four wheels via a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. Top speed continues to be limited to 250km/h or 280km/h with the RS Driver’s Package added, though the coupe will complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.7 seconds.
In Germany, pricing for the TT RS will start at €67 700 (R1 038 707) for the coupe and at €70 500 (R1 081 667) for the Roadster, with South Africa availability set to take place towards the end of the year.
