Shown in Indonesia last year with styling derived from DN Multisix concept previewed at the earlier Indonesia International Auto Show, the Rush will slot in above the Avanza, sold as the Daihatsu Xenia in a number of East Asian markets, and will offer seating for a seven with a claimed ground clearance of 220mm.
Unlike its Terios predecessor though, the Rush will be front-wheel drive only and powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine developing a familiar 77kW/136Nm. Equally well known ate the choice of transmissions, a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic.
While Toyota South Africa has so far not revealed any pricing or spec details, a leaked dealer brochure posted on Instagram this past weekend not only shows the Rush in the sporty TRD Sportivo attire, but also indicates that it will be available in single High trim level with either the manual or auto ‘box, and retailing for R302 900 or R316 600 respectively.
Autodealer will be attending the local unveiling of the Rush where spec and confirmed pricing will be announced.
