The third model in the 8-series line-up after the regular coupe and four-door Gran Coupe, the cabriolet sported its roof both up and down, again without cladding, although it still featured thin layers of black-and-white masking on the rear decklid.
Despite being devoid of any badging, the model snapped by carscoops.com could very well be the M850i as evident by the dual exhaust outlets, grey diffuser and wire-like alloy wheels together with the slightly flared door sills, deep air intakes and silver side vents.
Aside from the roof, the cabriolet will be unchanged from the coupe and Gran Coupe, with the aforementioned M850i being powered by a 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 that makes 390kW/750Nm. The base model will be the 840d powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six turbodiesel that develops 320kW/680Nm, with the M5-powered M8 following at a later stage. Standard on all models will be an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive.
Despite only going on sale next year, the 8-series cabriolet is slated to make its world debut in Paris next month reportedly along with the Gran Coupe.
