According to a report from Spanish online platform, motor.es, the X3 M CP will use the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine as the normal M, but reworked to lift power from a rumoured 331 kW to 349 kW. It could therefore also be fractionally quicker from 0-100 km/h than the X3 M, which will complete the benchmark sprint in a rumoured 4.5 seconds.
The report also claims that the CP will feature the same performance optimised xDrive all-wheel drive system as the new M5, upgraded M Sport brakes, the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel that debuted on the M5 and on the M2 Competition, adjustable suspension and dampers, as well as a tweaked M mode drive selector.
Although BMW is expected to unveil the X3 M towards the end of 2018, the CP will likely only debut in mid-2019.
