Posted on the automaker’s official Facebook page, the image effectively confirms the myriad of spy images, teaser video and patent drawings leaked over the last few months, in that the X7 will take after the X5 in the styling department, and ride on the brand’s CLAR platform.
Reported to measure 5.1m in overall length and provide seating for six or seven, the X7 will also take after its smaller sibling inside, and feature the new iDrive infotainment system with the 7.0 operating system, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the same centre console design as the 8-series.
While it is expected to come powered by the same assortment of six and eight-cylinder turbo-petrol and turbodiesel engines as the X5 and potentially also the M850i, the X7 will spawn a performance M version to rival the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, with this model likely to receive the same 441kW 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 as the M5 and not the 448kW/800Nm 6.6-litre bi-turbo V12 from the M760Li xDrive as previously speculated.
Expect this model to possibly wear the X7 M designation when it arrives in 2020, with the standard X7 itself confirmed to make its world unveiling at some stage this month.
