Arriving in dealership floors across the Old Continent from early next year, the Sport comes with a high gloss black finish for Honda’s Solid Wing Face grille complete with a black honeycomb mesh design, black fog light surrounds, wider door sills and wheel arches, a redesigned front bumper with integrated splitter, black mirror caps, a tweaked rear bumper with dual exhaust outlets, black 18-inch alloy wheels and smoked taillight clusters.
The somewhat sinister theme continues inside with the fitment black leather seats complete with red stitching, a black roof liner and red inserts, while underneath its darkened exterior, the Sport receives recalibrated dampers, retuned electric power steering bespoke to it for better feedback and response, as well as more sound deadening materials.
As indicated, the HR-V leaves its biggest change for underneath the bonnet, where Honda has fitted the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine used in the Civic, which produces 134kW/220Nm. As with the standard HR-V, the Sport comes with the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT, though strangely, no performance figures were divulged.
No word on whether Honda Southern Africa will offer the HR-V Sport on local shores has yet been made.
