More than 50 business people and other residents attended the meeting on Monday morning at Salinas Restaurant.
According to Pieter Naudé, chairperson of the Wilderness Ratepayers and Residents Committee (WRRA), the GWBI constitution allows a minimum of six and a maximum of 12 members for the management committee with SANParks, the WRRA and George Municipality appointing one member each.
After these three appointments, the balance of the committee is made up of business sector representatives elected by the membership.
The committee nomination process was closed immediately prior to the official opening of the general meeting and the results of the election were as follows: Mzwandile Mjadu (SANParks), Paul Nicholas (WRRA), Carli Bunding-Venter (George Municipality), Dale Kennedy (Accommodation Sector), Khobi Bowden (Adventure/Outdoor Sector), Frida Rabie (Food & Beverage Sector), Andrea Watkinson (Property Sales and Rentals Sector), Austin Newing (Retail Sector) and Donald Goldfain (Other Services Sector). The committee will now decide on a chairperson.
The new logo, designed by Jeremy Suter, was also unveiled at the meeting.
