GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 Warning for severe thunderstorms today from 14:00 to 17:59 over the eastern parts of the Western Cape, including the Garden Route District and the Central Karoo. A Yellow Level 1 warning is issued for damaging winds in the Western Cape and Namaqua for tomorrow, 25 March.
Expected Conditions:
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected with, some becoming severe. Potential impacts can include excessive lightning, large amounts of small hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours, leading to localised flooding.
Strong westerly to northwesterly winds (50-64 km/h, gusting up to 70 km/h) are expected offshore between Table Bay and Stillbaai, accompanied by south-westerly swells reaching 3.0 to 3.5m, leading to rough and choppy seas. This may cause navigation difficulties, especially for small vessels and kayaks, with a risk of capsizing. Localised disruptions to small harbours and ports are also likely for a short period.
