GEORGE NEWS - A 33-year-old suspect allegedly involved in various serious crimes in the region was arrested in Thembalethu on Thursday 3 November.
This follows an extensive search and investigation into the whereabouts of the man after an attack in Thembalethu on Sunday 23 May 2021, when a group of friends were having a braai outside a residence in Asazani.
An unknown number of gunmen started shooting at the group. Six victims sustained gunshot wounds and cases of attempted murder were opened.
Since the incident, three other suspects have also been arrested and kept in custody.
The fourth suspect will appear along with his co-accused in the George Magistrate's Court again on Monday 12 December.
He was arrested on charges of attempted murder at a residence in Sampie Street. According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the suspect is linked to numerous other crimes including murder and transit robberies in the area.
"The accused made his first court appearance on Friday 4 November on six counts of attempted murder. He was remanded in custody and the matter was postponed to 12 December when he is expected to be joined by his co-accused who are already in custody," said Spies.
