GEORGE NEWS - SA for Hope is planning yet another outreach, this time to Towerkop near Ladismith in the Little Karoo where 80 farmers and farm worker families are struggling to recover from a prolonged and severe drought.
Despite recent rains, the recovery of the veld will take time, and farmers continue to face significant challenges in feeding their livestock and sustaining their livelihoods," says Pieter du Plessis, SA for Hope director.
The outreach will take place on Saturday 26 October.
SA for Hope wants to distribute food parcels valued at R750 each. While this amount is modest compared to the weekly expenditure of an average household, these families manage to stretch it to last an entire month," says Du Plessis.
Each family will also receive a minimum of 20 litres of bottled water, fresh produce, and fodder for their animals.
SA for Hope will also reach out to Huis Izak van Tonder Old Age Home and Care Centre that will receive fresh produce, non-perishable food items, and toiletries to support residents.
Du Plessis says they cannot do this without the generous support of the public and businesses. Donations and assistance by volunteers who give their time and effort in the actual outreach are much needed.
"Whether you can help with packing food parcels, distributing supplies, or providing logistical support, your contribution is invaluable and can help to bring hope to the Towerkop community."For more information or to make a donation, please contact Pieter du Plessis on 076 844 6435 or pieterpdp@gmail.com.
SA for Hope is a registered 18A non-profit company and can issue 18A tax certificates for donations.
