GEORGE NEWS - A George Herald reader was aghast at the sight of another "informal settlement" in the railway tunnels between Victoria Bay and Wilderness.
"One of these days Victoria Bay, Kaaimans and Wilderness swimming areas will become very dangerous if this is not stopped," wrote the concerned resident.
George Municipality confirmed that it is aware of the situation.
"This is a Transnet property," said senior communications officer Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe.
He said municipal Law Enforcement and Land Invasion officials visited the site about two weeks ago.
"This is a civil matter and therefore can be addressed by the property owner, Transnet. We would advise that you contact Transnet on this matter."
George Herald is awaiting feedback from Transnet, who promised a response.
