GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - A recruitment drive for police trainees was led by Col Buleleni Gwanya of the South African Police Service's (Saps) human resource management and development (HRM) department at various shopping centres around George on Tuesday 27 September.
The aim of the drive was to invite the youth aged between 18 and 30 in possession of a matric certificate (Grade 12) to apply for police trainee intake.
Many young people showed keen interest in joining the police force after visiting the stands manned by various police units.
It was emphasised that the submission of the forms is not a guarantee that they would be employed, as applicants are subjected to various tests during the recruitment and selection process, which they have to pass before they could join as a police trainee.
