Two showrooms, a five-bay workshop and an administrative section will form part of the building where the company plans to establish a Suzuki dealership.
According to General Manager Patrick Price, they want to finish the building by the end of the year and start operating in January. He said another franchise, which has not been confirmed yet, may be added to the development.
"We will be filling a gap in the market in the Southern Cape and are targeting the area from Plettenberg Bay to Mossel Bay."
About 10 new job opportunities will be created at the new dealership.
The building was designed by Plettenberg Bay architect Brian Sulter. Price said local suppliers and subcontractors stand to benefit from the project.
A reader was concerned that part of the old building which was demolished to make way for the development, might have been protected under the Heritage Act, but Price said that only some parts of the original building still existed before the demolition. Most of it had been added on in later years.

Reminiscent of a past long since gone by. Kobus Lane sent in this photo of one of the gables of the building that was demolished. Langenhoven Road used to be called Montagu Street.
