GEORGE NEWS - A heartfelt moment of prayer and reflection brought together local law enforcement and community leaders this week ahead of the busy Easter weekend.
Police in the Garden Route district hosted an Easter church service on Wednesday 16 April at the George Methodist Family Church, under the powerful theme “Power of the Cross.”
The gathering was attended by district police management, officers from local police stations and units, traffic and correctional services officials, as well as representatives from the Garden Route District Municipality’s disaster management unit.
The programme featured intercessory prayer led by the SAPS chaplaincy and the District Spiritual Crime Prevention Desk. Spiritual leaders directed prayers towards police safety, road safety, and the ongoing scourge of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).
In her address, Garden Route District Deputy Commissioner Brigadier Belinda Pather reminded law enforcement officers of their vital role in safeguarding the community. She urged them to exercise caution and prioritise their safety during the heightened operations over the Easter period.
“This time of year brings increased responsibilities. Let us go out there not only with strength and determination but also with care and spiritual resilience,” she said.
The service served as both a spiritual upliftment and a timely reminder of the dedication required from those who serve and protect.Various law enforcement members were in attendance.
