GEORGE NEWS - The end of the First World War, 100 years ago this year, is commemorated annually worldwide at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
The Outeniqua Moth Shellhole in George held a Remembrance Day parade, which was attended by various organisations and representatives and family members.
The ceremony started at 10:45 with a reading and a prayer, reading out of the roll of honour and lowering of the flags.
At 11:00, two minutes of silence were observed in remembrance of the millions of armed forces personnel who died during the Great War and in many other armed conflicts since.
This was followed by a raising of the flags and a wreath-laying ceremony.
When the ceremony had been completed with prayer, the national anthem and the Moth closing ceremony, attendees shared memories, thoughts and refreshments in the Moth hall.
