GEORGE NEWS - Life Community Services are up and running at their new property in Fiskaal Street in Conville. The school had to be closed for three weeks while they took down the structures to be re-erected at the new property.
David May of Life Community said they officially started last week Wednesday and are excited about the future. They are looking forward to be able to build an all-purpose hall, staff housing and extra classrooms for Grades 4 to 7, as they own the new property.
"We want to start with Grade 4 next year, and are looking forward to that." May says everyone was sad that they had to leave the previous venue after 18 years. "We had a little celebration service the last Friday. We were there to just remember all the good memories. But we own this new property and are here to stay."
For now, he said, they have to make do with containers for the after-school facility and they laid a cover of wood chips in parts of the grounds, where the children play.
A new kitchen and new garden are also part of their plans, but funding is necessary for all their projects. David said they are constantly working on fundraising and are very grateful to everyone who helped them open their doors at the new premises.
