GEORGE NEWS - Six of the 67 Christmas babies born in the Western Cape on 25 December were welcomed to our world at the George Provincial Hospital.
Most of these proud moms were happy to share their little ones' first hours with George Herald, who paid them a visit late afternoon on Christmas Day.
The first baby arrived 03:01 via natural labour to his mom, Anelisiwe Sokweba.
She named him Lizole, an isiXhosa name which means peaceful. With a birth weight of 3,710 kg, he's got a healthy start to life.
Siphokazi Dleyi gave birth to her baby girl at 07:01. Usemhle Grace weighed 3,190 at birth.
The name Usemhle is from isiXhosa origin and means "You are still beautiful (God is still beautiful)".

Elizabeth Gongolo's baby girl Holly, clocked the scale at 2,815 kg and was born at 10:43. With such a name true to Christmas, no one will ever forget the day she was born. "I thought it was fitting," said her mom. "The labour was tough, but worth it."

Lianda Roman's baby boy Ruchin was born minutes later, at 10:46, via a c-section. He weighed a healthy 3,377 kg at birth.

In total four girls and two boys were born at George Provincial Hospital, of which two were delivered via a caesarean birth, and four by natural labour.
The sisters who kindly showed George Herald around were very excited with their brood, saying it is even more special that each of the six sisters in the maternity ward received the opportunity to help deliver a baby.
According to them a number of babies were born minutes before midnight on 24 December, missing Christmas Day with an inch.
No babies were delivered at Mediclinic George on Christmas Day.
