GEORGE NEWS - The Community Police Forum (CPF) of George is proud to announce the registration of six new neighbourhood watch (NHW) structures within the George area.
These dedicated groups include Dormehlsdrift NHW, King George Park NHW, Heatherpark NHW, Groenebos NHW, TTR Herolds Bay NHW, and Langvlei Dunes NHW.
“These new NHW teams are a tremendous asset to our broader safety network across all sectors of George,” says George CPF chairman Rupert Pretorius.
“We are extremely proud of their dedication and the commitment of each patroller working to safeguard our communities.”
The CPF urges residents to support these nonprofit structures to ensure they remain operationally effective and successful. Community involvement and support are vital in the fight against crime and in building safer neighbourhoods.
In a step toward embracing smart technology, the CPF has also partnered with MY911, a mobile safety app, since August last year.
After months of successful testing during real-time incidents by NHW patrollers, the MY911 app is now available to the public.
The app offers round-the-clock personal safety support, connecting users at the press of a button to services such as armed response, ambulance assistance, and even the local Neighbourhood Watch. With built-in geolocation, emergency services can be dispatched directly to your exact location when you report a crime or accident.
“This is just one of several initiatives aimed at combining innovative technology with law enforcement to better protect the people of George,” says Pretorius.
