GEORGE NEWS - The Geo King Youth Hub held a fun run on Friday 8 September to raise funds for the organisation.
Geo King works with underprivileged youth aged mainly between 13 and 18, with the main aim to provide a safe environment for teenagers to do their homework in the afternoons.
They are picked up from school and receive lunch and are supervised while they study.

The organisation is located at 87 Meade Street.
Tanya Fransman organised the fun run where participants competed in a 3km race for children and a 5km race for adults.
Fransman said, "The 3km race was the main focus, as it had children competing in it, and with our organisation about the youth, it is only fitting we focused the fun run around them."
Petré King (12) won the boys' race, with Kyle Hamilton (10) and Tristen Jacobs (9) coming second and third respectively. In the girls' race Daniélle du Toit (10) won, with Chantelle de Swardt (11) and Simone Schoeman (9) second and third.
Marelda Basson, CEO of Geo King, wants to get government support and has applied for funding at Social Development. She hopes to acquire a bigger venue so that they can accommodate more children and have a hand in helping more unprivileged children.
"We want to start programmes involving psychologists and social workers. We also want to do computer programmes, as there are computer and internet facilities at the hub.
"We are looking at getting young entrepreneurs involved, so that we can skill and equip our children to be balanced adults. The involvement should be in different fields.
We will look at the children's needs - whether it is computer skills, emotional intelligence or study programmes, we will help them. It is all down to the needs of our children.
We want to get involved with schools and run programmes there on mental health, teenage pregnancies, and awareness of HIV/Aids. We want to empower our youth."
Anyone who wants to get involved or make a donation to the Geo King Youth Hub, can call the Geo King on 083 781 8580 or e-mail mareldabasson@yahoo.com.
