GEORGE NEWS - From a Wendy house in Heather Park to where they are today, the Garden Route SPCA has come a long way in the last 20 years.
To celebrate their birthday, the GRSPCA team decided to start a BackaBuddy campaign to raise much-needed funds to buy two new vehicles.
"We have two vehicles that need to be replaced as they are coming to the end of their life cycles, so we need to work hard on raising funds to buy ourselves a big birthday present - new wheels," said GRSPCA chairperson, Kerrin Titmas.
This campaign will be running the entire year. Click here for more about the BackaBuddy campaign.
"We hope you'll join us for this fundraiser and share it with all your friends. We are setting a goal of R400 000 for the entire year in order to purchase these two vehicles. If we are able to exceed that goal, we will use the additional funds to maintain and run our current fleet," Titmas said.
As part of the birthday celebrations at the branch in George on Sunday 20 September, local musos Jovan and Thelma will be doing a special show while the pop-up café at the cattery will be selling cake, cupcakes, pudding, pancakes, tea, coffee and scrumptious curry and rice.
They will also be running a microchip special of R150 per chip. All dogs have to be on leashes and all people must please adhere to the Covid-19 protocol and wear their masks.
Please inform the GRSPCA of your intention to visit by e-mailing admin@grspca.co.za or calling them on 044 878 1990 so that they can be well prepared.
Both the George and Mossel Bay branches also have new trading hours. On Mondays to Fridays they will be open from 08:30 to 16:30 and on Saturdays between 09:00 and 11:00.
