GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Eisteddfod was formed in 2019, focusing mainly on dance, but because the Covid-19 pandemic is limiting opportunities for young amateur artists to perform, the organisers decided to open a vocal and drama section for the 2021 eisteddfod.
Students from various schools participated when the first vocals and drama sections were hosted on Saturday 21 August.

Schools and music schools that participated: Lida de Villiers, Planet Play Private Music Academy, Suid-Kaap Musiek Akademie, Duende Drama School and Glenwood House School. There were also private entries from Outeniqua High School, George South Primary and Holy Cross Primary.
The gala event for the Garden Route Eisteddfod will be held between 15 and 16 October.
