GEORGE NEWS - Young Ambassadors Primary School in Dellville Park introduced its first ever prefects, head boy and head girl on Friday 11 December.
The school, which started in 2014 with only one Grade 1 class, has grown into a fully fledged primary school.
Principal Jacques Vorster said every year they added another grade to the school. "In 2018, due to a restriction on the premises we occupied at the time, we unfortunately had to remain only until Grade 4 and could not expand to Grade 5. But 2021 will be the year where we will be adding our Grade 7 class and be a fully functioning primary school."
Vorster and his staff held a little ceremony at the school on Friday where the prefects were introduced and their proud parents had the honour of putting on their badges. Vorster said these learners were chosen because they have shown real leadership qualities, not only in class, but in their work too. To establish a tradition, a Grade 5 learner was elected to be part of the prefect body. This learner will be able to carry forward valuable traditions when the older learners leave school. The honour fell on Kenya Hartman, who was chosen because of her leadership qualities.
Vorster said after finding the new premises in Dellville Park where the school is currently situated, it really continued to grow. They were very proud to introduce the very first student body, with many wonderful things to look forward to.
"For us as a small private school it is a huge accomplishment, but also for the learners who have been afforded the opportunity to become the first prefects of Young Ambassadors Primary. Congratulations to the 2021 prefects for the hard work they put in to achieve this. We are extremely proud of you."
