GEORGE NEWS - A farmer from Waboomskraal, Herman van Rensburg, recently stepped in to help his worker's injured dog.
Sasha, a jack russel cross breed, had been run over by a car on the farm. After Richard Maasdorp asked his employer to phone the SPCA, Van Rensburg looked after Sasha while waiting for the SPCA to arrive, since Maasdorp was at work.
SPCA inspector André Baartman came to the farm on Monday 7 August and took Sasha to the SPCA premises where Dr Anesca Loots, the SPCA vet, assessed and x-rayed her.
She found that the dog had a fractured pelvis.
Van Rensburg said that anyone who loved his dog as much as Maasdorp deserved to be helped, and proceeded to pay for the medical treatment. He also said he would help with Sasha's rehabilitation.
