GEORGE NEWS - Suff Academy is partnering with South Cape College and EDENfm during Women's Month to collect 2 000 dignity packs for college students in need.
"Many projects focus on supporting young women in school, but we want to take this opportunity to focus on young women in college. We want to build up their dignity as we believe that if you feel good you will also do good," says Suff Academy marketing manager Ray Carstens.
The academy is making a plea to the community to donate a dignity box with the following: a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a cloth, spray, roll-on and dignity pads. The dignity boxes may be dropped off at Suff Academy's different Youth Cafès (George, Oudtshoorn, Uniondale, Haarlem and Riversdale). People can also make a cash contribution of R100 per pack.
Businesses or individuals who would like to make a donation, may contact Monique Michaels at monique@suff.org.za or Ray Carstens at ray@suff.org.za or on 044 873 5655.
Suff Academy has been recognised by both the Western Cape Department of Social Development and national government as one of the leading youth development organisations in South Africa.
With its head-office based in George, the academy has developed an international footprint over the last 10 years.
They reach out to youth between the ages of 14 and 35 years who are not in employment, education or training (Neet). Suff offers skills, technology and arts programmes.
