About a month ago four families from Blanco lost everything after their houses burnt down. Thanks to the goodwill of the SWDCB Academy and donations searched from Lewis Stores in George in the form of furniture (beds and mattresses) as well as bedding, Academy Manager André du Plessis and his players last week changed the lives of demoralised families who lost everything.
In a handover ceremony the academy intake made a visit to Blanco where they handed over the donations.
Albertus Kennedy, the chief executive officer of SWD Cricket, congratulated the academy intake and André du Plessis on their initiative. He also expressed a word of thanks and appreciation towards Joyce Venter, the manager of Lewis Stores in George, and Regional Controller Roan Koen together with Anneline George, from Kretzenshoop Primary School (an educator of children of the effected families), and Michel Maree for her voluntary initiative with this project.
In his response, SWDCB President Rudy Claassen confirmed SWD Cricket's involvement in in social and community projects in the region.
