GEORGE NEWS - The 16-year-old Christilene Mouton, a Parkdene High learner from Maraiskamp, is one step closer to achieving her modelling dreams after being crowned Miss Teen Universe SA International Western Cape.
She was also awarded the Miss Teen Universe SA Ramp Excellence Award.
Her Miss Teen title has opened the door to the next stage of her journey. Christilene will travel to Durban where she will compete for the national title against representatives from all nine provinces. This event takes place next March.
Pageant journey
Christilene’s pageant journey began in April when she participated in Little Miss George, where she was crowned Miss Teen George. Her performance caught the attention of pageant organisers Rosie Venter and her daughter, Rosie Venter Jr, who subsequently scouted her.
She went on to become a finalist in Miss Teen Universe SA and was crowned Miss Teen Universe SA International Western Cape in Cape Town on 17 July.
Now, Christilene’s mother, Samantha, is appealing to the George community to help Christilene make the trip possible to compete on national level.
The family faces costs for accommodation, transport and potentially flights, and four nights’ accommodation alone is expected to cost about R10 000.
A BackaBuddy campaign, ‘Change Christilene’s life to her dreams’, has been launched to help cover the expenses associated with Christilene’s participation.
