GEORGE NEWS - A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man in Lyster Street, Conville, earlier this week.
According to police, the suspect was arrested within hours of the incident.
“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect, who was walking with his dog, approached the victim while he was sitting with friends,” said Southern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the 20-year-old in the chest with a sharp object and also stabbed another man in the back, shoulder and head.
The 20-year-old was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The injured man was transported to hospital for treatment.
The suspect appeared in the George Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again today, Friday 21 August, for a bail application.
The investigation is continuing.
