GEORGE NEWS - The SA for Hope non-profit initiative is reaching out to the public with a heartfelt plea for assistance.
"It is only through the public's involvement and donations that we can continue with our mission to provide vital support to farmers, farm workers, and local communities in the Karoo, western parts of the Eastern Cape, and beyond," says SA for Hope director Pieter du Plessis.
He says their aim is to help strengthen the resilience of farmers, which is essential to sustain our food supply. "Our farmers' resilience contributes to our nation's prosperity. Farmers face immense challenges, from droughts to economic pressures.
"Farm workers also play a crucial role in agriculture but are often overlooked. They deserve fair wages, safe working conditions, and access to essential services.
"We also extend our help beyond the fields as we aim to uplift communities by addressing basic needs, education and healthcare. We cannot do any of it without the help of the public, so we are making a special appeal to all who are able to join hands with us," says Du Plessis.
The public can help through financial donations, no matter how small. Du Plessis says every rand counts and goes toward essentials like food, water, fodder and medical care.
"You can also help by spreading awareness about SA for Hope. Share our cause on social media, within your network, or at your workplace. Awareness leads to action."
Collaboration of businesses also reinforces SA for Hope's efforts. "We invite businesses to consider partnering with us. We can issue businesses with an 18A tax certificate which can be used to deduct from their Sars returns."
