GEORGE NEWS - George Youth Office calls for assistance with youth transfer skills workshops intended to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to become employable and/or start their own business.
These workshops are rolled out by the youth development office, in collaboration with different stakeholders, including the Pacaltsdorp Community Business Association, Inkcubeko Youth and Science Centre, Sylvia Ncazelo, Noxolile Tshandu and Pam Lesibanie.
These partners provide venues, the skills transfer sessions, which includes beading, upcycling of recyclable goods, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Basic business training and mentoring have been provided to previous groups, as well as a market to sell some of their products.
The sessions also provide a platform to offer attendees valuable life skills, leadership development, career guidance, job readiness and mentoring, and other sessions.
The Uniondale skills transfer programme is set to start by October, with the making of goods from leather.
"We would like to extend an invitation to people who are available to invest similar or other skills and/or products in this programme," said media liaison officer Debra Sauer.
For more information or to discuss this invitation, please contact Jonel Kerspuy or Thozama Zukelwa on 044 802 2000.
