GEORGE NEWS - The Ebrahim Patel Community Cup (EPCC) successfully hosted its first-ever Business Breakfast at 101 Meade Street Restaurant in George, marking a significant milestone in strengthening relationships between sport, business and community development.
The event brought together key stakeholders, business leaders and partners in an engaging morning focused on collaboration, economic opportunity, and the role of sport as a catalyst for growth.
The programme featured a line-up of respected speakers who shared valuable insights across business and community development:
• Basil Myners (BM Training) opened the session, outlining the purpose of the engagement, emphasising the importance of skills development and partnerships.
• Myron Pedro (FNB) delivered a practical and insightful discussion on building bankable small businesses, highlighting the importance of financial discipline and access to funding.
• Romano Lekay (EPCC tournament director) provided an overview of the EPCC platform, outlining its vision to honour rugby heritage while creating meaningful economic and community impact.
• The keynote address was delivered by Juan Swanepoel of Swanns Bus Services, who shared powerful perspectives on entrepreneurship, resilience, and building sustainable businesses within local communities.
The session concluded with a networking segment where attendees could explore future partnerships aligned with EPCC’s broader vision.
