GEORGE NEWS - Three teenagers were saved from drowning at Herold's Bay earlier today.

According to NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, the three boys were swimming when they got into difficulty in the surf.

"Former Strand and Fischoek lifeguard, Cliff Coombe, saw the children, grabbed the pink NSRI life buoy and swam out to save them. He reached two of the boys and brought them to shore," Lambinon said.

A body boarder, Sydney Erasmus, who witnessed the incident paddled out and brought the third teenager to safety.

"My wife and I were walking along the prominade when we saw three guys being pulled in by the rip. I grabbed the pink buoy and swam to the first kid. Once I had him we kicked over to the second one. By that time Sydney came out with his body board and got the third one. They swam to us and we all went to shore," Coombe said.

When emergency services arrived, all three teenagers where safely brought to shore.

They were transported to hospital by Eden911 as a precautionary measure.
