GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - On Friday 18 May Dr Louw Claasens, director of the Knysna Basin Project, will give another of her inimitable talks and live demonstrations on the beach at Herold's Bay. Entitled 'Life on the rocky shore', the talk will explore the rocky shore biodiversity of the area.
She will share the examples of the fascinating adaptations of these shore creatures that enable them to survive the fierce onslaught of harsh elements such as exposure to the glaring sun, fluctuating tides, wind and fierce wave action.
Claasens has recently been granted her PhD for her pioneering work on the Knysna seahorse.
Members and visitors are to meet at 10:30 in the parking area near the end of Beach Road, just before the church (on the right) and the tidal pool.
Look out for a table and banners. Bring water resistant footwear, drinking water, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. A chair is an optional extra.
