During the George leg of Zille's tour she addressed voters in Touwsranten in Wilderness, Rosedale and Thembalethu.
In Rosedale Zille was confronted by angry residents who complained about the poor state of their RDP houses. Pastor Tommy Leeuw said when it rains the water gushes through the houses. "The storm water drainage is inadequate and the roof does not have an overhang so the wind blows the water back into the house where the roof meets the walls and at the bottom of the door."
Another resident, Nellie Whyte, has the same problem. "I stand knee deep in the water nearly every time it rains hard. My furniture is getting destroyed."
Zille said she would talk to the councillor so that she can resolve the matter. "If the area needs additional storm water drainage she will have to bring it to the attention of the officials and see that it gets done."
At the Thembalethu community hall a crowd of 350 enthusiastic DA supporters greeted Zille when she arrived to address them.
During her local visit on Friday Zille seemed blissfully unaware that her then new political partner, Agang's Mamphela Rhamphele had announced that in spite of her nomination as DA presidential candidate, she had no intention of becoming a DA member.
Rhamphele's announcement meant the end of the cooperation agreement between the DA and Agang with Zille accusing the Agang leader of 'playing cat and mouse'.
