Update
GEORGE NEWS - A reminder from the George Municipality that the BTB layer that failed the specification tests and needed replacing (at the contractor’s cost) is in progress and a stop go will be in effect. Once the date for the final asphalt layer is known residents will be advised and road closures will be published.
The work on removal of the concrete blocks on the sidewalks will begin today.
The areas where work will be taking place will be protected by barrier tape for the safety of pedestrians. Please stay away from the working areas and utilize the grass verge while the works progress.
Please note:
- Caledon Street is still a construction site and as such, the road, manholes and kerb levels will still be different. Please exercise care and caution during this time.
- Please respect the road signs that are put in place for the safety of all road users.
- The contractor has experienced vandalism of his signage in the past. Should you witness vandalism of any kind, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.
- We urge residents and business owners to please proceed with caution during the roadworks.
Your continued support and patience is appreciated during this time.
