GEORGE NEWS - The Road Accident Fund (Raf) took its mobile bus clinic and driver wellness programme to key sites along the Garden Route recently.
On Thursday 23 February they visited the George taxi rank to give free health checks. The driver wellness programme focuses on long-distance truck drivers as well as those who carry a large number of commuters.
Statistics show that commercial truck drivers, taxis and buses (commercial and public transport drivers) pose a greater risk and are prone to mass accidents.
To mitigate this, the Raf facilitated a wellness bus with the necessary equipment to test vitals like high blood pressure, diabetes, eyesight and others.
