PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The popular annual Plett Arts Festival is set to go ahead in October this year after organisers had to put the brakes on the event that was set to take place from 10 to 20 July.
The festival, which celebrates the finer things in life, was postponed after the country's upgrade to lockdown level 4, which prohibits gatherings.
This comes after the blow last year when the festival had to be presented virtually, also as a result of Covid-19 regulations.
"We did say to expect the unexpected at the Plett Arts Festival this year," said Plettenberg Bay Tourism chief executive Patty Butterworth. "Well, this was unexpected."
The exciting line-up is bursting at the seams and new dates will be shared soon. Performances and exhibitions will take place in unexpected places. "Opportunities to explore and [seek] adventure in the wild and at the same time [celebrate] the arts, are an exhilarating experimental aspect of the festival."
She emphasised that while the venues will be interesting, the artists will still steal the spotlight on these "amazing stages".
Back on the programme is the Plett Winter School, which was first introduced in 2018. This involves teaching young and old about various art disciplines. The programme is also set to include an array of entertainment, food and drink as well as art exhibitions, street festivals, performances, film screenings and wine.
