GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A 49-year-old West African suspect travelling from George to Cape Town on a passenger bus, was busted with R690 000 worth of tik.
The police cornered the man when the bus made a pitstop at Mossel Bay on Friday 23 July at 02:50, after they had received a tip-off.
The police searched his luggage and found tik wrapped in plastic parcels inside his luggage. It is believed that the tik was destined for distribution in Cape Town.
The suspect was arrested on the spot and appeared in the magis-trate’s court in Mossel Bay on Monday on a charge of possession of tik. The station commander of Da Gamaskop, Col. Clive Kaptein commended the policemen who were responsible for the confiscation and the consequent arrest of the suspect.
The investigation is being handled by Officer Henkie Rhoda, who is attached to the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit based in George.
