GEORGE NEWS - If you missed the magnificent gardens of Hoekwil's Open Garden event last weekend, be sure to catch the George Open Gardens this coming Saturday, 12 November (read more about this initiative by Badisa elsewhere in this week's George Herald).
But about last weekend... By Tuesday morning my eyes were still leafy and cheeks blossomed up from Sunday's rendezvous with the most gorgeous gardens hidden like private oases in the countryside of Hoekwil.
It was not only a memorable experience because of its beauty, but it served as a gateway to ideas, giving new perspective on the concept of creating a wonderland with natural colour and textures, lily ponds, rock formations and hidden secrets. It is simply mesmerising.
"I would like to comment on the gardens," said one of the visitors, Karen Deppisch of George. "I would like to ask them to hold this event twice a year. I need to see the gardens in more than one season."
The Hoekwil Open Gardens was sponsored by Sotheby's International Realty, in aid of Alzheimer's Western Cape and the Seven Passes Initiative.
Over 850 visitors enjoyed the two-day event.
