GARDEN ROUTE NEWS AND VIDEOS - All beaches in the George area have been temporarily closed due to extreme high tide.
George Municipality has sent out an urgent warning for people not to visit the two beaches, as well as all other beaches.
Emergency services are buys evacuating affected residents in Herold's Bay and Victoria Bay.
George Herald has received reports of waves crashing over the road and into seafront homes in Herold's Bay. Reports have also been received of vehicles being swept into the ocean by waves in Jongensfontein.
It is not safe due to the very high tides and rough water conditions. Please take this warning seriously and avoid any unnecessary risks. Updates will be provided as to when the beaches will reopen.

Due to the high swells, high winds and some rain overnight on Friday 15 September, Knysna has been struck by flooding in several parts of the town. This includes Old Cape Road, Waterfront Drive and various parts of Leisure Isle. Residents are advised to exercise caution when travelling around town.
