GEORGE NEWS - The Glenwood House College (GWH) athletes lifted the trophy as winners of the category for schools with less than 600 learners at the first Top Ten competition in George.
The competition was hosted by Outeniqua High School on Saturday 12 October.
Three medals and a meeting record concluded the day for GWH. The medal chase was led by Carla du Plessis (high jump for girls u.17) who got gold, setting a new record at 1,65m. Gisele Young followed with a silver (long jump girls u.15) and Lara Vrey (400m girls u.16) with a bronze medal.
The team competition format takes the 10 best results per team and then uses the Bekker Schools scoring tables to determine the ultimate winner. On the Friday the GWH Preparatory School athletes also performed well with gold for Carmi Lewis in the 90mH, 1 500m silver for Nicolas Vrey and 2 bronze medals for Wido Rudolph in the long jump and shotput.
The well-attended event is set to become a fixture on the local athletics agenda drawing top schools from across the country.
