"The school is grateful to Lindiwe Moyi, the chairperson of the school governing body, who secured the assistance of the George Correctional Services and mounted the Dellville Park Primary School roll-of-honour board in the entrance hall of the school."
Headmaster Elroy Makan said he is optimistic that the school will receive a hall from the Western Cape Education Department as a matter of urgency.
"Here the roll-of-honour board can have pride of place as currently a very limited number of people will see the names on the board in the entrance hall. The school needs an assembly point as there are certain tasks that can only be performed in a hall."
Herman added that the school's mission statement, which aims to empower the learners to achieve excellence, will have meaning as they can now publicly recognise and acknowledge the learners who have excelled in leadership, academic excellence and sport.
"By doing this act we will be uplifting a community that needs and deserves recognition for rising above adversity. The biggest contribution a teacher can make is to encourage and motivate learners to strive to be the best they can be. This is what a learner will appreciate and remember forever."
