GEORGE NEWS - A new and improved Garden Route Dance Eisteddfod is on the cards for George.
A combined effort by role players in the Garden Route dancing scene, this project is expected to transform the local dance scene.
The organisers feel it is their responsibility to give our young dancers the necessary opportunities to guide them in using and developing their talent in a way that benefits them personally, emotionally and help them to realise and reach their dreams.
The organisers are excited to welcome over 300 dance performances, with participants aged from three to 25 years, from dance studios all over the Garden Route at the eisteddfod.
The aim is to recognise each dancer's talent and encourage them to keep up their hard work. We have amazing sponsors who enabled us to recognise our top solo performers with bursaries and other sponsored vouchers.
The amazing adjudicator is Michelle Pieterse, who has extensive classical training and professional dance experience both locally and internationally. Her own studio in Pretoria, Michelle Leibrandt School of Dance, is renowned within the South African dance industry.
This special eisteddfod will take place from 16 to 19 August at the Dutch Reformed Mother Church hall in George.
A gala evening will be held at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre on 30 August. The community is invited to take part in the eisteddfod and support the dancers by following them on the Garden Route Dance Eisteddfod Facebook page.
