Last Tuesday seven members of the crime prevention unit of Conville proved that to be true.
According to Capt Elsa Gerber, communication officer at the Conville Police, the members forfeited the luxury of patrolling the area in police vehicles for the hardship of doing it on bicycles.
"That with the weather the way it was. Their aim is to concentrate on certain areas in the Conville Precinct that are not accessible for vehicles, because the criminals know that they can use these areas as hide-outs and escape routes.
"Conville Policing Precinct experienced a high level of success in steadily reducing crime levels the past few months. Part of these successes can be found in new and innovative approaches of the Conville police members to the crime problem. This initiative will be repeated in future together with others and involving other partners in crime prevention. Crime and the reduction thereof is the main priority of the members of Conville Police Station," said Gerber.

Ready to fight crime on their bicycles are, from left: constables Riaan Tromp, Nomsa Saul, Auburn Lewis, Thandisizwe Griffies, Dillon Peterse, Melvine Esau and Lornene Muller.
