GEORGE NEWS - Eighteen students were excited to receive certificates for completing a Cater Care/Food Handler course at the François Ferreira Academy last Friday, 11 June. This was the 12th year that the course was sponsored by the Garden Route District Municipality.
François Ferreira, founder member and director of the academy, called it "an incredibly special day", the first step of their career path.
"FFA has been presenting the Cater Care Course since 2008. This year we stepped it up one notch and combined it with the QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations) Occupational Certificate: Food Handler," he said.
"You have excelled yourselves during the course and you are the first course we received calls from the industry complimenting us on your positive attitude during your industry experiential learning.
By being on this course you have committed yourselves to a culture of lifelong learning. You can never know everything in food or hospitality; you learn something every day.
Please, when you feel you have learnt everything, change careers because you can never know everything in any career.
Thank you to the GRDM and EPWP for making this course possible. Thank you for your commitment to upskill the youth of our area."
