GEORGE NEWS - A book that gives insight into the lives of Thembalethu people who live as blind persons in our society, has seen the light.
Titled Imfama (blind), it will be launched by Ilitha Centre for the Blind at the Thembalethu Multi Purpose Centre in George on 6 December at 10:00.
"These stories are about the disability challenges they encounter, as well as sharing their hopes and dreams," said Nkosinathi Menziwa, the local poet and author who collected the stories.
"The stories will inspire other disabled persons to have the courage to share theirs too, in order to educate society. The aim is to curb social stigma, isolation and discrimination against people with disabilities.
"They too want to participate in social activities and have equal access to resources as disabled community."
Musical artists who will perform at the event include Terrible Dan, Makoya Mreppa, Andile Citashe, Nkostar and Lotta Dibela Mzwandile. Entry is free of charge. For more information, contact Menziwa on 063 081 2475.
