GEORGE NEWS - A motorcycle ride on Youth Day last week, organised by Coded Motorcycle Club in George, Cape Town and Pretoria, was a huge success and groceries worth almost R20 000 were donated for farmers suffering because of the drought.
Pieter du Plessis, a Water Warrior organiser from George, said various motorcycle clubs from across South Africa joined Coded MCC in the effort. "What a great outcome in all three regions. Their donations, together with fodder, water and more donated groceries, will be handed over to farmers and their workers in the Wolwefontein area on the Water Warriors outreach on Saturday 3 July," said Du Plessis.
The Water Warriors were also informed that the community of Kliprand is in dire need of food as the entire community is in isolation due to Covid-19. They responded by sending a team with supplies to Kliprand on Friday 18 June.
"This means that we are going to work harder in the next two weeks to make up the supplies which were collected for Wolwefontein. We still need donations of food, fodder and funding to assist our farmers and their farm workers. As long as there is drought, South African Water Warriors will fight for our farmers and their workers," said Du Plessis.
People who wish to donate towards the Wolwefontein outreach, may phone Pieter du Plessis on 076 844 6435.
